West Kauai Music, sponsored by the Hanapepe Hawaiian Congregational Church, is pleased to announce ongoing music classes with their Music Director Cindy Combs. Classes in ukulele, guitar, beginner piano, and voice are open to the public and will begin on Feb. 11, 2014 and continue until further notice.

Cindy Combs is a Na Hoku Hanohano Award winner and recording artist with Dancing Cat Records' 'Hawaiian Slack Key Guitar Master' series. She has been a professional musician for 42 years and she appears every Friday night at the Hanapepe Cafe from 6:30 to 8:30 P.M.

Contact the church anytime for classes in ukulele for ages 8 to adult, guitar for ages 12 to adult, beginner piano 8 to adult, and voice 8 to adult. Classes will be held every Tuesday and Wednesday beginning February 11, 2014 and be ongoing throughout the year.

Class periods will take place between the hours of 3:30 to 5:30 P.M. with three classes offered a day of forty minutes duration. Cost for each class is $20 per individual and $35 for group up to 4 persons. Visitors to Kauai are encouraged to attend, even if only for one or two classes. Scheduling is flexible and scholarships are available. Also, all musicians and singers are invited to attend the adult 'Ukulele Choir' practice on Tuesday evenings from 6 to 7 P.M.

Hawaiian Slack Key Guitar lessons are offered privately on request.

These classes all offer personal and private instruction geared to an individual's skill level with the aim of strengthening one's playing abilities and over all musicianship.

Besides learning and playing songs classes will include rudiments of music, music appreciation, singing, amplified performance skills, with some public speaking and stage presence. Basic tablature will be taught to the ukulele and guitar students. Piano and voice students will be study in standard musical notation.

Ukulele and guitar participants are urged to bring their own instrument.. Ukuleles will be available for use during class and available for practice and purchase.
