West Kauai Music Fall Session

West Kauai Music is a new community based music program. It is supported by the Hanapepe Hawaiian Congregational Church and is located in their educational building. The intention is to offer quality music education alternatives to children and adults in the community of west Kauai. Future plans include the employment of a qualified music director with the goal of developing programs and resources for excellence in music education and performance.

The West Kauai Music 2013 Fall Session will begin on September 10th and will run through November 21st. Registration is now being held for classes in ukulele for ages 8 and up, guitar for ages 12 and up, beginner piano 8 and up, and voice 10 and up.

Students will attend classes twice weekly. On Tuesdays and Wednesdays, lessons will be given between the hours of 3:30 to 6:30 P.M. with four class periods a day of forty minutes duration. Thursdays all students meet for a group class from 4 to 5 P.M. Weekly cost is $15 per individual and $25 for group up to 4 persons.

Na Hoku Hanohano Award winner Cindy Combs will be teaching the classes all of which include rudiments of music, music appreciation, singing, amplified performance skills, with some public speaking and stage presence. Basic tablature will be taught to the ukulele and guitar students. Piano and voice students will be introduced to standard musical notation.

Ukulele and guitar participants are urged to bring their own instrument.. Ukuleles will be available for use during class and available for practice and purchase.
