The Perfect Genetic Storm

SUBHEAD: BP's catastrophic Gulf Oil Spill was followed with a chemical and biological assault the was even worse. By Michael Edward on 21 January 2011 for World Vision Portal - (http://worldvisionportal.org/wordpress/index.php/2011/01/the-perfect-genetic-storm)

There’s a new proprietary recipe being force-fed to all of us here on the Gulf of Mexico that is now becoming available worldwide. Although this recipe has been closely guarded for 8 months, we were able to break it down after examining the plentiful supply us “Gulf Coasters” have available here. The ingredients are abundantly available while both the recipe and the brewing process are not as secret as everyone had thought.

THE GULF BLUE PLATE (BP) SPECIAL

Fill a large bowl with saline ocean water, add a generous proportion of thick crude oil, then pour in a cup of liquid Correct-it (available from Nalco under the brand name Corexit) making sure you don’t spill any on yourself, stir gently, and then let it sit for a day or two. As the newly thinned oil mixture begins to sink to the bottom of the bowl, make sure the resulting gasses are allowed to ever-so-slightly bubble in orange foam on the surface. This will let you know you’re ready for the next and most important step.

Quickly add Syn-Bio (available from JCVI, SGI, and other private companies) along with a colloidal mixture containing iron, copper, and other natural elements to begin the interactive brewing process. Let it sit for no less than 6-9 months making sure nothing is allowed to disturb it. When there is no more gas coming to the surface and the mixture on the bottom turns into a gelatinous black goo, the first stage of the recipe is finished.

The amazing thing about this new state-of-the-art recipe is what it becomes after the initial first stage brewing process is finished. No-one knows! It’s no wonder some have begun to refer to it as The Blue Plate (BP) Special. You can be assured that once the second stage of this concoction begins to release its mutated biological ingredients, as it appears to have done so already, the rest of the world will abruptly notice.

OIL SPILL OR OIL FLOW?

There was never a BP Gulf of Mexico oil spill in 2010. When you fill a glass with water, bump into something while holding it in your hand, and then some of the water splashes out, that’s a spill. When you turn on a water faucet and allow a continual flow to fill the glass so that it’s constantly overflowing, that’s not a spill. Because the multiple BP drilling operations that began at Mississippi Canyon 252 in 2009 fractured the floor of the Gulf of Mexico sometime before April 22, 2010, there is a continuous flow of crude oil and, especially, oil derived gasses such as methane. That’s called an oil and gas flow.

Since the Gulf has a steady flow of toxic crude oil and gasses, then how do you stop it? You can’t. The only solution to the problem is to find a way to eliminate it before it has a chance to surface en mass. This is exactly what has, is, and will continue to occur in the Gulf of Mexico.

SYNTHETIC GENOME BIOREMEDIATION

Toxic crude oil and gas can be changed, altered, or eliminated by microbes. Natural microorganisms in all the oceans, such as bacteria, have been known to do this over time, usually lasting decades and beyond. It’s a slow natural process. Yes, natural biology can do the job, but under continual flow conditions there is no possible way all the hydrocarbon-hungry microbes in the entire world can eliminate that much oil and gas fast enough. Time is the critical factor.

For the past decade, synthetic biology has been the new science realm. We now have engineered genetic biology that synthetically creates RNA and DNA sequences for both viruses and bacteria.

In the 1980’s, the fad was designer jeans. Now, we have designer genes.

Soon after the Deepwater Horizon inferno, U.S. government scientists – with grant funds supplied by British Petroleum – started giving us solid clues as to what they were doing with all that crude oil and gas. In May 2010, National Geographic quoted Dr. Terry Hazen from the U.S. government’s Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory who said,

“…we could introduce a genetic material into indigenous bugs via a bacteriophage – a virus that infects bacteria – to give local microbes DNA that would allow them to break down oil. Either that, he said, or a lab could create a completely new organism that thrives in the ocean, eats oil, and needs a certain stimulant to live…”

There were two possible solutions according to Dr. Hazen, who is considered to be the foremost crude oil bioremediation expert in the world. Either use synthetically engineered viruses called bacteriophages, or ‘phages’, to infect and alter the genetics of indigenous Gulf bacteria; or, synthetically create an entirely new organism, i.e. a new species of bacteria, to eat up the oil and/or gas and introduce it into the Gulf of Mexico.

In September 2010, Duke University gave us another confirmation as to what was going on in the Gulf:

“In a paper published in the journal Science, Terry Hazen and his colleagues at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory discovered in late May through early June 2010 that a previously unknown species of cold-water hydrocarbon-eating bacteria have been feasting on the underwater oil plumes degrading them at accelerated rates.”

Natural microorganisms are well known to biologists and their genetic sequences are catalogued in a worldwide library. The public can even access the entire genetic library on the internet. But here we have a new and never before identified species of bacteria that suddenly “appears” in the Gulf of Mexico, and it’s eating up the oil at a much faster speed than any natural bacteria possibly could or ever has.

In August 2010, Science Magazine reported about bacteria that were gobbling up the Gulf oil and how it was being done by microorganisms that were not typical:

Hazen’s team found that microbes inside the plume samples were packed more than twice as densely as microbes outside it. Even more encouraging, the genes specifically geared to degrade hydrocarbons were more common in the plume as well, implying that it’s not just general bacteria that are taking on the plume.

Terry Hazen had described how the genes of a certain microbe that were “geared” (created) to eat-up crude oil were not just thriving within the oil plume, but were rapidly duplicating more than twice as fast as those same microbes outside the oil plume. He reveals that indigenous “general” or natural bacteria in the Gulf are not responsible for this amazing outcome. Obviously, he knows exactly what’s doing the job at such an accelerated rate: Synthetic genome bacteria created specifically to consume hydrocarbons, crude oil.

Dr. Terry Hazen is just one source, so I don’t expect you to believe synthetically engineered organisms are being used in the Gulf based solely on what he has said, even though he’s an absolute expert scientist in his field. What if I were to tell you that British Petroleum has admitted to using synthetic designer gene organisms in the Gulf? Would that help convince you?

In September 2010, reporter Stephen Fry of the UK’s BBC was granted a video interview with Mike Utsler, the Chief Operating Officer of BP’s Gulf Coast Restoration. Here’s what Mr. Utsler publicly admitted on camera:

“There is a new form of microbiology that is attacking this (oil) plume and using it as a food source”.

You can view him saying this on our YouTube Channel or on our Gulf Blue Plague internet blog at BP Admits Using Synthetic Microbes in Gulf of Mexico. This 17 second video snippet is taken from a November 7, 2010 broadcast entitled Has the Oil Really Gone? which is available for viewing at BBC TWO.* Note how Utsler is cut off by his own people at BP immediately after stating this and the interview was abruptly ended.

* It appears that the BBC has now restricted this video so that it can no longer be viewed from within the US.

A NEW FORM OF MICROBIOLOGY

A “new form of microbiology” is not a natural biological organism. Genome scientist J. Craig Venter, PhD, the founder of Synthetic Genomics Inc. and JCVI, clearly defined this new biological structure on May 27, 2010 in his prepared testimony before the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Energy and Commerce:

“One of the major advantages of synthetic genomics is that there is no need to have access to a physical supply of a particular DNA sequence. Sequence fragments are simply created de novo by chemical synthesis and assembled into entire chromosomes and organisms. This ability to synthesize (write) DNA and use it in the construction of new cells can catalyze a major change in what organisms can be engineered to do.

…these [synthetic genome] technologies could be used to produce bioremediation techniques.

In 2003, JCVI successfully synthesized a small virus, approximately six thousand base pairs long, that infects bacteria. By 2008, the JCVI team was able to synthesize a small bacterial genome.”

Now it’s easy to understand exactly what Terry Hazen, PhD, and BP’s Mike Utsler were revealing with regards to the creation of new genetically engineered microorganisms – either viruses that attack bacteria or bacteria themselves – within the Gulf of Mexico.

AN OBSCURE FAMILY OF SUPERHUMAN MICROBES

The latest development in the Gulf is how an incomprehensible bacterium is remarkably eating up the methane gas. It appears that engineered designer genes have also been used to remove the gas just as they have been used to consume the oil. The common denominator is that neither of these microbes are natural microorganisms. This should come as no surprise.

Microbiologist David Valentine at the University of California at Santa Barbara stated,

“Within a matter of months, the bacteria completely removed that methane. The bacteria kicked on more effectively than we expected.”

It sounds to me that this created synthetic genome microbe far exceeded the engineering and programming expectations.

According to a Fox Business report,

“This discovery offered a rare glimpse into the remarkable abilities of an obscure family of microbes in the depths of the Gulf”.

I agree. It is scientifically incomprehensible that any natural microorganism could do this and synthetically engineered microbes are definitely obscure by comparison.

University of Georgia microbiologist Samantha Joye, who has been independently analyzing methane from the Gulf of Mexico, also agrees with me. She said,

“It would take a superhuman microbe to do what they are claiming.”

So it has, Samantha. It was specifically engineered and its “superhuman” genetics were created synthetically.

In a January 7, 2011 article, the UK Register wrote how the scientists were particularly

“surprised at the speed with which the bacteria consumed their enormous meal”.

They also brought up the fact that earlier studies elsewhere in the world suggested methane levels around Deepwater Horizon would be well above normal for years ahead. It’s remarkable what highly engineered designer genes can do.

On January 6, 2011, the Christian Science Monitor reported how the study’s leaders boldly stated that rates of methane decomposition after the Gulf oil spill

“were faster than had ever been recorded in any other place on the planet.”

That’s because these are not natural microbes. You can’t compare apples to grapefruit.

TRACE ELEMENTS ADDED TO THE GULF

In the same CS Monitor report, University of Georgia microbiologist Samantha Joye stated how

“[The Gulf] is not well stocked with trace elements the bacteria need to survive – among them, copper, which bacteria specifically use to deal with the methane. Shortages of copper, as well as other trace elements, likely would have slammed the brakes on the exponential growth in bacterial populations needed to get rid of the methane in fewer than four months.”

The same applies to hydrocarbon-eating bacteria that consume oil, except that iron is needed more than the other trace elements. Since copper and iron are not prevalent mineral elements normally found in the Gulf of Mexico, the synthetic bacterium eating both the oil and the methane would not be able to do so at the remarkable speed they have without such essential earth elements. The only possible way these synthetic bacterium could have done this is by adding the required elements to the Gulf. Spraying a highly dissolved or colloidal mixture of trace elements onto and into the Gulf of Mexico would be absolutely required to accomplish this.

In our October 21, 2010 research article The Gulf BLUE PLAGUE (BP): It’s Not Wise To Fool Mother Nature, we had revealed the abnormally high amounts of elements found in the Gulf and that it was being sprayed along with or separately from the oil dispersants. In August 2010, rain water samples were tested by the Coastal Heritage Society of Louisiana where rain coming directly from the Gulf had unusually high concentrations of iron, copper, nickel, aluminum, manganese, and arsenic.

Without a doubt, the synthetically created bacterium introduced into the Gulf of Mexico to consume the oil and gasses were – and continue to be – fed these essential trace elements. Otherwise, they could not have thrived or reproduced at the accelerated rate they have. The continued spraying in the Gulf by aircraft and by boat is not Corexit or other oil dispersal chemicals. Consider the current spraying to have the same effect of adding liquid fertilizer to your crops.

SYNTHETIC MICROBES MUTATING NATURAL MICROORGANISMS

In early December, 2010 the research vessel WeatherBird II, owned by the University of Southern Florida (USF), went back to the Gulf of Mexico for follow-up water and core samples. As reported by Naomi Klein on January 13, 2011 in Hunting the Ocean for BP’s Missing Millions of Barrels of Oil,

“…these veteran scientists have seen things that they describe as unprecedented …evidence of bizarre sickness in the phytoplankton and bacterial communities…”

This “bizarre sickness” in the indigenous Gulf microorganisms is the direct result of the synthetic microbes that are still creating genetic sicknesses by mutating the DNA of the natural microbes. We had alerted our readers to this in DNA Mutations Confirmed in Gulf of Mexico on September 28, 2010 when we stated,

“DNA mutations are occurring within the Gulf of Mexico at a microscopic cellular level. The obvious effect this has on marine life as well as humans is a Pandora Box of unknowns.”

Tampa Bay Online gave further insight to this in an interview with Dr. John Paul, an oceanography biology professor at USF, regarding the oil plume they had discovered 40 miles off the Florida Panhandle:

It was found to be toxic to microscopic sea organisms, causing mutations to their DNA. If this plankton at the base of the marine food chain is contaminated, it could affect the whole ecosystem of the Gulf.

“The problem with mutant DNA is that it can be passed on and we don’t how this will affect fish or other marine life,” he says, adding that the effects could last for decades.

In Naomi Klein’s article, she describes how Paul introduced healthy bacteria and phytoplankton to Gulf water samples and what happened shocked him. The responses of the organisms “were genotoxic or mutagenic”. According to Paul, what was so “scary” about these results is that such genetic damage was “heritable,” meaning the mutations can be passed on.

Genotoxins pass on genetic changes to successors who have never been exposed to the original gene. Healthy microorganisms are then genetically changed and will pass on their DNA mutations to their descendants. This is a genetic chain-reaction as each mutated microbe interacts with and affects other microorganisms, especially with regards to the food chain:

“…the phytoplankton, the bacteria, and the [microorganisms] that graze on them – the zooplankton – seem to be the most potentially impacted.” – Dr. David Hollander, USF Marine Geochemist: December 6, 2010: Video interview on WeatherBird II.

THE PERFECT GENETIC STORM

In a Bridging The Gap radio interview with Dr. John Waterman on September 9, 2010, he stated,

“Microbes can morph, they can change. Viruses can turn into bacteria and bacteria can turn into fungi. In the Gulf we have bacteria that can morph. It can morph [mutate] because it’s attacked by a virus. The virus can change the genetics of the bacteria so that it morphs [mutates] into something very deadly.

Some of these changed bacteria can become deadly, Ebola deadly. When you have a morphed bacterium that gets airborne, now you’re going to see it go from person to person.

We’re on the verge of something that can become a deadly pandemic. They had to know that was the case. All it has to do is enter the human host… and once it gets started, it’s going to be impossible to stop.”

In October, 2010, I was contacted by Riki Ott, PhD who had written a book on the effects of the Exxon Valdez tanker spill in Alaska. Her Master’s Science degree is in marine biology with emphasis on the effects oil has on zooplankton. She had just read my It’s Not Wise To Fool Mother Nature article and wanted to talk. So far, she is the only U.S. based scientist who has agreed with me that there were genetically bio-engineered bacteria eating the oil in the Gulf.

In an article she published while in Ocean Springs, Mississippi, entitled Bio-Remediation or Bio-Hazard? Dispersants, Bacteria & Illness in the Gulf, she recounts how comments made by a local grandmother made her re-evaluate her thoughts on crude oil bio-remediation. That grandmother said she felt the oil-eating bacteria were “running amok and causing skin rashes”. Here’s part of what Dr. Ott wrote:

“To make things a little scarier, some of the oil-eating bacteria have been genetically modified, or otherwise bio-engineered, to better eat the oil – including Alcanivorax borkumensis and some of the Pseudomonas.”

Pseudomonas alcaligenes is a Gram-negative aerobic bacterium used for bio-remediation purposes because it can degrade aromatic hydrocarbons such as benzene or methane. Alcanivorax borkumensis is also a Gram-negative bacterium used for bio-remediation purposes because it can degrade oil hydrocarbons. There we have it. Confirmation once again that synthetic designer genes are the reason the oil and gas are being eaten up at alarming rates within the Gulf.

But why are these Gram-negative bacteria so important? Because, as Riki Ott said,

“Oil-eating bacteria produce bio-films. Studies have found that bio-films are rapidly colonized by other Gram-negative bacteria – including those known to infect humans.”

A nurse Riki Ott was working with in the Gulf, Nurse Schmidt, put it this way:

“This is like a major bacterial storm. It could be the reason we are seeing a variance of symptoms in different individuals. In some people, we see respiratory complications, while in others we see skin or GI symptoms. I think it is due to a multitude of colonized bacteria.”

But this is not just a typical bacterial storm. In this instance, there are synthetically created bio-remediation bacteria that have mutated untold species of natural organisms in the Gulf water and in the air. As different colonies begin to grow and colonize, you are witnessing the perfect genetic storm.

SYNTHETIC DNA CREATED THE GULF BLUE PLAGUE

I’ve written numerous articles in various forums since July, 2010 trying my best to warn not only my own family and friends, but the entire world with what has been evolving in the Gulf of Mexico. I’ve described in detail precisely how it was and is still evolving. For the record, I’ve researched and published these findings in the World Vision Portal forum, WVP’s YouTube channel, in the Blue Plague blog, and in weekly radio broadcasts on the Living Light Network. In August, I appropriately named the ensuing pandemic The Gulf Blue Plague.

To my frustration, few have cared to listen. I’ve been ignored and shunned on most internet sites owned and controlled by those who purportedly claim to be representing those of us living along the Gulf coast. Many of them simply don’t represent us at all. They exist for their own agendas, such as to find clients for their attorney practices. Some have exploited Gulf victims to only make a name for themselves. Some simply disappeared when BP and government agencies said the Gulf oil disaster was finished. The truth of the matter is that it’s not finished in the least. The worst part is yet to come this spring and summer as the warmer water and air accelerates the growth of the synthetically mutated viruses and bacteria.

What’s taking place in the Gulf of Mexico is not a regional problem just for those of us who live here. It’s a worldwide problem. Subtle viral and bacterial signs are beginning to show up everywhere. Mysterious unexplained diseases affecting fish, sea mammals, animals, fowl, trees, plants and mankind are occurring because of the synthetic genomes that are changing and mutating the natural organisms in the oceans and in the air.

I’ve been constantly interviewing both family members and friends who are physicians, scientists, Registered Nurses, ship captains, shrimpers, and fishermen. All of them agree that the scientifically confirmed mutated organisms – directly caused by synthetically engineered genomes interjected into the Gulf – can and most assuredly will become a pandemic or even multiple pandemics. As my RN friend with over 30 years of trauma and clinical experience in Louisiana put it,

“This is like an opera where the main characters are Frankenstein and King Neptune. When the fat lady of the Gulf finally sings in the last act, there may not be much of an audience left to hear her.”

In summary, all I can say is what I’ve been saying for months now….

“Wherever the Gulf wind blows and the Gulf water flows”

NOTES & ADDENDUM

From The Gulf Blue Plague is Evolving – Part II

VIRUSES

Bacteriophages are viruses that change the DNA of bacteria. Many types of bacteriophages exist. Some simply infect the host bacteria while others insert into and alter the bacterial chromosome.

Some of the viruses donate their DNA materials to the host cell and cause alteration in the genetic code. Some bacteriophages can enter the host cell, but instead of immediately making new viral material the bacteriophages DNA will integrate into the chromosome of the bacteria.

BACTERIA

Bacteria are a large group of single cell microorganisms that grow to a fixed size and then reproduce through a form of asexual reproduction. Under optimal conditions, bacteria can grow and divide rapidly and some bacterial populations can double as quickly as every 9.8 minutes. Most bacteria have a single circular chromosome and inherit identical copies of their parent’s genes (they clone themselves).

However, all bacteria can evolve through changes made to their genetic material DNA caused by mutations. Mutations come from errors made during the replication of DNA or from exposure to mutagens (mutating agents), such as certain chemicals or bacteriophages (viruses). Mutations are changes in the DNA or RNA sequence of a virus. It can occur at both a Gene level – called a Gene Mutation – and at a Chromosome level – called a Chromosome Mutation. This process of change is called Mutagenesis. The result is a mutated virus that quickly duplicates itself, develops into maturity, and then discharges itself into the environment. A water environment discharge will become airborne due to high temperatures or as a result of storms.

Despite their apparent simplicity, bacteria can also form complex associations with other organisms. If bacteria form a parasitic association, they are classed as pathogens. Pathogenic bacteria are a major cause of human death and disease. MRSA and other flesh eating bacterium are pathogenic.

Man Made Chemical Assault

SUBHEAD: We have a long-term planetary-wide epic tragedy unfolding.

By Dr. Ilya Sandra Perlingieri on 18 May 2011 in Conscious Life News - (http://consciouslifenews.com/radiation-chemtrails-assaults-additional-support-immune-system/116333/)

[IB Publisher's note: We have been reluctant to include articles on chemtrails, Morgellons desease, Synthia micro-organisms, nano-weapons, Planet X and other calamities some think are besetting us. That is partially because there is little support in the scientific community for conclusions drawn by those shouting the warnings. It is also because it seems there is little that can be done to alleviate the impending problems if the dire warnings are true. We are publishing this article to let you know what some people are thinking. Although some of it seems outside the realm of scientifically possible - some seems like practical advise.]

"It is clear that dilution is not the solution to pollution. Dumping radioactive contaminated materials into bodies of water has a boomerang effect. It is not long before the ionizing radiation is washing back up on riverbanks and shorelines.” Geoscientist Leuren Moret, 2008

[Part 1 is here: http://aircrap.org/radiation-support-immune-system/331187]
We are now living under daily radiation, chemical and biological siege. Because so much of this is invisible, it may be difficult for many people to comprehend the enormity of what is happening throughout our environment. The on-going catastrophe at Japan’s Fukushima ruined nuclear reactors continues to affect our entire planet.

From the very beginning and behind the scenes of this epic crisis, the real reasons were deliberately covered-up. Safety factors were omitted, citizens continue to be put in harm’s way in Japan, throughout North America, and the rest of the planet. Mainstream Orwellian news is worthless in terms of reporting the magnitude and real dangers involved; so the public has never been properly informed. As with the on-going BP Gulf of Mexico oil-rig catastrophe, all we get as citizens are distortions and deception. Safe ways of handling this nightmare or real precaution were deliberately not part of any “emergency” plan.

We have a long-term planetary-wide epic tragedy unfolding. It is the most serious man-made catastrophe that we have faced in our human history. We are all being assaulted on several fronts with a three-pronged attack: (1) a decades-long hazardous brew of daily Chemtrails battering that is affecting our entire biosphere; (2) long-term and very dangerous ionizing radiation exposure, with Fukushima as a new and critically toxic addition; and (3) the release of nano-bioweapons into our environment (more on that below).

Radiation Exposure & Illness
What is known from research going back to Chernobyl’s nuclear catastrophe is that there will be a new, and probably quite dramatic, rise in various cancers (including tragically children’s), autism, brain dysfunction and damage, and an assortment of auto-immune and, most likely bio-weaponized, diseases. Since both Japan and the US have not reported the real radiation levels to which we are all exposed, millions of people who already are or will become ill will never be able to hold anyone accountable. Yoishi Shimatsu’s new article reports on more of the enormous cover-up and fraud, noting that TEPCO’s
“compensation package doesn’t cover medical benefits for radiation-caused cancers that are not expected to surface in victims for at least two years from now [even though some reactor workers have already died]. The government is going along with this publicity stunt, mainly because most politicians owe TEPCO under the reigning system of money politics. The plan is a fraud from its inception. …Nuclear is probably the only industry that can get away without risk coverage, due to its cozy connections with politicians, bureaucrats and military forces.”(1)
This is the modus operandi of corporate and government crimes: a system of vast harm to everyone, but no accountability.

As Dr. Helen Caldicott has noted, external radiation exposure and internal exposure are not the same. It is this invisible, ionizing radiation exposure, going into our tissues, organs, and bones, which will cause long-term damage. As Dr. Caldicott has written:
“Internal radiation, by contrast, emanates from radioactive elements that enter the body by inhalation, ingestion, or skin absorption. Hazardous radioactive elements being released in the sea and air around Fukushima accumulate at each step of various food chains (for example, into algae, crustaceans, small fish, bigger fish, then humans; or soil, grass, cow’s meat and milk, then humans). Entering the body, these elements -called internal emitters- migrate to specific organs such as the thyroid, liver, bone, and brain, continuously irradiating small volumes of cells with high doses of alpha, beta and/or gamma radiation, and over many years often induce cancer. Further, many remain radioactive in the environment for long periods [sometimes hundreds of thousands of years], posing danger for future generations.”(2)
FACT (Freedom Against Censorship Thailand) has reported that:

“In addition to cancers, any radiation exposure correlates to an increase in immune system disorders. Thyroid diseases, diabetes, asthma, AIDS, hepatitis, multiple sclerosis, myalgic encephalomyelitis and a huge spectrum of non-specific neurological conditions are expected in the human population [and all other animals, too]. Radioactive iodine attacks thyroid function while radioactive cesium mimics potassium uptake. The ‘Petkau effect’ for ingestion of beta and alpha particles, discovered by Atomic Energy of Canada scientist Dr. Abram Petkau in 1972, draws ominous conclusions for human exposure. Dr. Petkau found that lower doses of ionizing radiation are actually more efficient at disrupting human cell activity.”(3)
This also includes brain damage and dementia.

As one test shows: “Radiation in milk [tested from organic samples] in Hawaii is now at least 2,033% above Federal drinking water safety limits.”(4) Children are drinking this.

Geoscientist Leuren Moret confirms these reports with her own independent research reported in a recent interview:
Video above: Presentation by Leuren Moret on radiation. From (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Be0ow2Jjs9E).
Morgellons and Synthia – Nano-Bioweapons
Not under discussion, except in some alternative news reports, are two geo-engineered, synthetic nano-organisms that are already wrecking massive havoc. Firstly, there is independent researcher Clifford Carnicom’s ground-breaking work on Morgellons, affecting probably millions of people. Over the last decade, Carnicom has methodically examined air samples of “filaments” [or fibers] he has gathered, and notes:

“It can now be shown with conviction that environmental filament [fiber] samples and the filaments that are characteristic of the ‘Morgellons’ condition are of one and the same nature.”(5)
Carnicom has done an exceptional job in showing concisely how Chemtrails and Morgellons are interlinked through his “Systems Perspective.”(6)
In addition, Dr. R. Michael Castle “has identified microscopic polymers comprised of genetically-engineered fungal forms mutated with viruses. He says that trillions of Fusarium (fungus)/virus mutated spores), which secrete a powerful mico-toxin, are part of the [now plasma] air we breathe.”(7) This is the poisonous mixture in the Chemtrails aerosolized assault on all of us. Over the last 10 years, we also have enormous supporting statistical evidence of what this attack has done to us seen in the dramatic increases in coronary and upper respiratory diseases, brain damage, and cancers.(8)
While we are all breathing this horrific brew, and even given all the evidence, there has been continued silence by government agencies and much dismissal by compromised academics and scientists. Carnicom rightly calls it “The Crime of All Time.” Another visual link is here:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=0jt0EFwP4dI
People afflicted with Morgellons, a synthetically made [possibly in some high-level, secret bio-weapons lab] and painful nightmare have often been misdiagnosed. The doctors’ usual tactics are to discredit and disregard patients’ symptoms (as they did in the 1970s and 1980s with those who had Mononucleosis and Fibromyalgia; or in the 1990s with Gulf War Syndrome). Most allopathic physicians, with their academic blinders, have little-to-no training in either environmentally caused or bio-weapons lab-created illnesses. They are far too quick to dismiss patients’ complaints and legitimate concerns. One person who has been able to help those with Morgellons is Dr. Gwen Scott, ND. One of her remedies can be found here:
www.bariumblues.com/chemtrail_illness_protocol.htm
In addition, there is now a second synthetic genome bacteria that was unleashed after the Gulf of Mexico oil-rig catastrophe last year, supposedly to “help” absorb the massive amounts of oil and gas. Before its release, it was untested for human and/or animal safety. This geo-engineered nano-organism, called Synthia, has been replicating itself exponentially and causing chaos throughout the Gulf waters. Called the “Blue Plague,” by researcher Michael Edwards, it “has created new viral and bacterial pathogens never seen before. It is directly responsible for the spreading of drug and antibiotic resistant viral and bacterial outbreaks along the Gulf Coast.”(9) This unconscionable release has contaminated the entire Gulf region; and through evaporation into the air we breathe, it has probably transported these dangerous nano-organisms further around the planet.
The implications for this not only crossing species barriers [naturally occurring ones don’t do this] but creating substantial novel illness is already happening. One Gulf physician recently noted that one of his patients had “a new illness we’ve never seen before [with] a rare bacteria found in his body, ‘similar to the microbes that eat oil.’”(10) Patients are already dying of the Blue Plague –a horrendous geo-engineered experiment, and not reported by the mass media.
French physician, Dr. Gabriela Segura has been following this and has developed a “Gulf Blue Plague Detox” which is essential for people to know about:
www.worldvisionportal.org/wordpress/index.php/2011/05/gulf-detoxification-gabriela-segura-md
See also:
www.blogtalkradio.com/livinglightnetwork/2011/05/06/gulf-of-mexico-blue-plague-update-1
Another noted physician, Dr. William Rea, founder and director of the Environmental Health Center-Dallas, is also recognized for his detox protocol work to help those who have been contaminated by Gulf’s dispersants. Dr. Rea is a thoracic and cardiovascular who has been focusing on environmental issues surround health and disease.
Michael Edwards is calling this synthetic DNA gene transfer “a catastrophic biological disaster in the Gulf of Mexico” with its massive contamination that he notes will result in:
1. New Cross-Species viruses that directly cause disease
2. The artificial development of new bacterial diseases
3. The re-activation of dormant viruses present in all cells
4. Antibiotic resistant genes in viral and bacterial pathogens
5. The uncontrolled spread of new genes that never before existed
In this regard, Dr. Máximo Sandín, author of “We are Virus and Bacteria” [www.somosbacteriasyvirus.com] and former Biology Department professor at the Independent University of Madrid (where he taught Human Evolution and Ecology) has said:
“I believe that some (rather many) of the activities of ‘biotechnology’ or ‘bioengineering’ companies are becoming even more dangerous each day because their practices seem to be completely behind the back of present scientific knowledge.”(11) In a paper Dr. Sandín posted online, he has written: “Are these practices of genetic manipulation really necessary, when the more qualified experts affirm that we are very far from knowing (and much less able to control) the processes implicated?”(12) [my translation]
The intentional wreckage of our immune systems continues with the banksters and elites trying to control everything from behind the scenes. Through their secret agendas of extreme harm, we are seeing in our daily lives the financial (worldwide bankruptcies, thefts of mortgaged homes, and ruin for the middle class) and environmental destruction (weather warfare, environmental degradation, and geo-engineered illnesses) they have created. So, it is imperative that we take control of our own health, because all of the other supposed “support” from any public system is totally broken. If you have a good health care provider (and Vet, if you have companion pets), who understands what is really going on, you can make a plan to protect yourself and your family. If you are on any kind of drugs, please consult your health care provider.
Firstly, a continuing REMINDER, stay out of the radioactive rain. The synthetic “sno” that fell for the past five months was loaded with toxic barium, nano-coated fiber aluminum, mycotoxins, heavy metals, and the poisonous desiccant, Ethyl dibromide. Normal human body temperature used to be about 98.6 degrees Fahrenheit. Since the Chemtrails assaults, there are reports of people with temperatures of anywhere between 94-97 degrees. This drop in body temperature may possibly be linked to the cumulative and damaging effects of Ethyl dibromide that dries out our skin and mucosal membranes. These poisons, to which we are illegally subjected daily, are off the scale. Millions of people are very ill. Since about March 15, this brew now also includes radioactive elements coming invisibly from Fukushima that have been raining down on all of us in the Northern Hemisphere, Europe, and the rest of the planet.
PLEASE NOTE: Recommendations and dietary plans in this article are to share educational information. In order to make good decisions about our lives, we must be well informed. I do not have any financial ties with any specific brands or items mentioned. They have worked, and thus are recommended. The herbal suggestions, included below, are based on centuries-long traditions by indigenous natives and practicing herbalists. They all know that plants can be both food and medicine. Chinese and Ayurvedic medicine have illustrious histories going back 5,000 years. These remedies would not continue to be used, if they did not work. Much has now been confirmed by science.
Testing You Can Do
1. I urge everyone to strongly consider getting together communally and purchasing the best Geiger counter you can, so you can to monitor your exposure. Given difficult finances for millions, the cost can then be shared. A good brand is Gamma Scout with a probe attachment available that can be used to test water and soil samples. (See RESOURCES below.) Keep in mind that Dr. Helen Caldicott says no level is safe, so it is vital that we still know how much daily invisible radiation exposure we are getting from Japan. There are six reactors involved at Fukushima, and already it is a far worse catastrophe than Chernobyl. Further, after two months, there has been no containment; but we continue getting huge doses of ionizing radiation spewing into the air and across the Pacific Ocean.
One important radiation monitoring website from Norway (NILU) [http://transport.nilu.no/browser/fpv_fuku?fpp=conccol_Xe-133_; region=NH] went off line last week, so people cannot see how serious the radioactive contamination remains. A back-up NILU report of “emergency high levels” of radiation posted this week is here:
www.dutchsinse.com/blog/?p=759
Dutch Sinse has been reporting regularly and fairly accurately on global and anomalous weather patterns that are not being reported by mainstream news. This chaos is affecting millions of people. See:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K8aDT14VX1I
2. Another way of avoiding dangerous exposure to poisons and contaminants in water, is to filter them out or purify them. A stainless steel, reverse osmosis system (hooked up to your sink, shower, or throughout the house) can get rid of numerous toxins. (NOTE: plastic water filters do a poor job, due to the added chemicals off-gassing from the plastic containers. See RESOURCES below.)
3. I also would strong suggest that people consider having a Heavy Metals Hair Analysis done. A standard blood CBC (Complete Blood Count) lab work-up does not show up heavy metals contamination. A hair analysis does. It is not expensive; and it is reliable. It only takes a moment to cut a bit of your hair (or your child’s) from the nape of your neck and send it off. You health care provider can give you the necessary form. Doctor’s Data has been doing these tests for many decades and they are very dependable. Results are sent to your health care provider within two weeks. (See RESOURCES below.)
Save your lab results. We are working on a plan to post these US and Canadian results (without your name). If we had lab results for heavy metals and radiation toxicity levels across the continent, this also could be an excellent way of documenting and determining the nationwide Chemtrails poisoning of our population. It has the potential of holding criminals accountable for the grave harm they are causing us.
In addition, given all the assortment of heavy metals in Chemtrails and our nationwide radiation exposure levels, this would also help immensely in determining your own exposure and what kind of Detox Protocol would be advisable with recommendations from your health care provider. The likelihood of millions of us having some kind of heavy metals toxicity appears to be high, simply because of the known massive amounts of environmental poisons found in our air, soil, and water. Heavy metals contamination does have the potential of causing cancer and other serious neurological and immune damage to humans (and our companion pets, too). Some of the early symptoms can mimic other illnesses. If un-detected and left undiagnosed, the potential for permanent damage and death is very significant.
We may not want to deal with this on a deep psychological level. People are going about their daily routines, as if nothing much has happened. After all, little real news is actually being reported. So, it’s already difficult to comprehend that these mostly invisible poisons are already creating injury and seriously impacting us. Further, this already has affected the entire food chain; and people do not realize that this means everything grown and brought to market since mid-March is radioactive. As I have already written, this has also been greatly exacerbated by the Japanese dumping 11,500 tons of radioactive water into the Pacific Ocean! This was criminal, and has poisoned the entire web of life.
This deadly assault continues to wreck our immune systems, cognitive functions, and our ability to stay healthy. Now, we will continue to face years of continued ionizing radiation exposure (as at Chernobyl) Thus, a commitment for each one of us to make better choices to help support our bodies to function properly, and continue to create a more healthy diet, is now essential for survival. Given all the mainstream media lies, I also believe it is imperative for us all to come together as families and in our communities. We must help one another. This is the way things should be. We always have an opportunity to re-evaluate what we think we know based on new information. Now is the time to do this.
BOOST YOUR IMMUNE SUPPORT: FOOD
Due to radiation in our soils, it’s safer to use last year’s organic crops: frozen, or in glass jars, or canned. This is a short list. There is a great deal of additional information in the seed catalogues listed below my NOTES. For a list of Vitamins, see Part 1 of this article.
Anti-oxidants:
  • Applesauce: in glass jars. It has a beneficial daily effect and binds with radioactive particles. Apple pectin has been used successfully at Chernobyl.
  • Artichokes: in glass jars with olive oil, or canned.
  • Blueberries, frozen, from last year’s Fall crop, untainted by radiation. Available dried also. A combination of applesauce and blueberries, with a small amount of maple syrup, makes a delicious addition to breakfast. Children love this.
  • Brown Rice Miso: a healthy choice (but don’t get anything coming from Japan or the Pacific, due to the high levels of radioactivity)
  • Chickpea (Cicer arietinum), cooked, makes great Humus.
  • Garlic and all the Allium family (onions, shallots). Grow your own. Sulphur is a good daily dietary protector for the immune system. It reduces blood cholesterol. It’s anti-viral and anti-microbial, and helps in upper respiratory health. (See Part 1 of this article.)
  • Pomegranate (Punica granatum): the juice is a rich source of anti-oxidants and helps heart function (including retarding the build-up of plaque on arterial walls). The disease, Atherosclerosis, is caused by fatty deposits on the inner lining of the arteries, and is the main cause of coronary disease. Atherosclerosis targets the heart’s largest artery, the aorta, Mortality from this disease has dramatically increased over the last 10 years. What significant role does perhaps billions of tons of barium used in Chemtrails play in increased coronary deaths?
  • Quercitin: A flavonoid that is anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial, anti-viral, and regulates heart and cell functions. It is found naturally in garlic, cayenne, cabbage, brussels sprouts, spinach, and pears. The highest sources of Quercitin are found in onions, tea (Camellia sinensis), apples, and cranberries. The herb Bonset (Eupatorium perfoliatum), traditionally used for the flu, is a natural source of Quercitin.
  • Sprout your own Sprouts in a glass jar: mung beans, etc.
Spices & Herbs:
Use organic and avoid toxic pesticides and other chemicals. Fresh herbs and freshly ground spices added daily to food are both a tasty addition and they add needed nutrients, vitamins, and immune support.
  • Chamomile (Matricaria chamomilla): antiseptic, anti-spasmodic, and anti-inflammatory. Has an ancient history as a calming and gentle sedative tea. Helps with insomnia, tension, and anxiety. It is safe for children.
  • Curry: A blend of Spices from India (or make your own recipe. Check at www.epicurious.com) Delicious in steamed rice dishes.
  • Ginko (Ginko biloba): anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant. Excellent for memory [also to help counter-act the heavy doses of nano-fiber-coated aluminum and barium in Chemtrails and large releases of mercury pollution]. It increases blood supply and improves circulation. Ginko plays a part in helping to strengthen blood vessels. DO NOT USE DURING PREGNANCY. Drink 1/2 cup daily: 3-4 leaves steeped in 1 cup boiling water.
  • Fennel (Foeniculum vulgare): anti-spasmodic and helps in digestion. Has a calming effect for bronchial infections.
  • Parsley (Petroselinum crispum): One of best sources for Vitamin C. Grow it in a window box, and cook with it freshly cut. It’s a good diuretic, and helps body eliminate excess water. DO NOT USE IN MEDICINAL (i.e., large) DOSAGES DURING PREGNANCY, but it’s fine for cooking and sprinkling on salads.
  • Rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis): anti-microbial, antiseptic, anti-spasmodic, aromatic. Has nervine and circulatory benefits. Good for digestion and memory. Shakespeare reminds us: “here’s Rosemary for remembrance…” Delicious on roasted potatoes with garlic.
  • Thyme (Thymus vulgaris): antiseptic, anti-microbial, anti-spasmodic. Good gargle for laryngitis and sore throats. Aids with bronchitis, asthma, and infected cuts and wounds. It has been used traditionally for coughs, bronchial infections and other respiratory ailments, and gum disease. Grown in a window box, the aromatic leaves are delicious in salads and soups.
Adaptogenic Herbs (not a complete list):
A term used since 1964, including herbs that help the body create resistance and vigor when it’s under environmental stress, while also supporting a body’s ability to defend against and “adapt” to these toxins. These herbs can be purchased in glass bottle tinctures. Reishi, Shitaki, and Maitaki mushrooms can be purchased dried from your local health food or specialty store. [Freshly picked ones are NOT advisable, because again the soil has been contaminated with radiation. Use organic plants and herbs. GROW YOUR OWN in an indoor pot or planter. It’s fun, and a great project for children and families! Tinctures are often a better choice than taking capsules or gel caps, both of which add un-necessary ingredients.]
  • American Ginseng (Panax quinquefolius), available in alcohol or glycerin tincture. Helps to increase energy and vitality. Good Vitamin D source.
  • Ashwaganda (Withania somnifera), available in alcohol tincture, or as dry and cut up root. Add 1 teaspoon to 1 cup boiling water, stir and simmer gently for 15 minutes. Strain. Drink once daily; or taken powdered: 1/4 teaspoon taken in juice daily.
  • Holy Basil (Ocimum sanctum), available in alcohol or glycerin tincture.
  • Maitaki Mushrooms (Grifola frondosa), dried and can be powdered or re-constituted in water.
  • Reishi Mushrooms (Ganoderma lucidum), dried and can be powdered or re-constituted in water.
  • Shitaki Mushrooms (Lentinus edodes): All three mushroom species mentioned [see also the two above this one] have anti-microbial, anti-inflammatory, anti-tumor, and cardio-protective effects. Use dried, and can also be powdered or re-constituted in water. Sautéed mushrooms combined with onions and garlic are a delicious addition to every diet.
  • Roseroot stone crop (Rhodeola rosea), available in alcohol or glycerin
tincture. Traditionally taken as a tea, it helps with stress, irritability, and fatigue. Standardized exacts are available.
Liver Detox Support (traditionally done in the Spring):
1 3/4 cups Spring water [don’t use water with chlorine or fluoride; best is steam-distilled or reverse osmosis]
1 heaping TB Dandelion Root (Taraxacum officinale)
1 level TB Milk Thistle (Sylibum marianum)
1 tsp dried Red Clover flowers (Trifolium pratense)
Bring water to a boil. Add herbs and stir. Turn off heat. Cover and let steep for 15 minutes. Strain and cool. Drink 1/4 cup twice daily. This can be done for a month. Store unused dried herbs in glass jars (not plastics).
Don’t forget exercise is very important. It has cardiovascular and immune boosting benefits. But don’t run or bike in the rain! Yoga, Tai Chi, biking, running, tennis, ballet, etc., all help keep us fit!
We are at a Planetary Cross-Road
I believe it is imperative to understand that brain, neurological, and immune functions have been deliberately compromised by more than a decade of highly toxic, what Clifford Carnicom calls the “aerosol crimes” of Chemtrails assault. This is all being done in concert with horrific and now stepped-up Haarp-arrays attacks [the bizarre weather and bird deaths are the latest indications], various Electromagnetic frequencies [see: bevolution.org for their chart], enormous amounts of now de-regulated toxic environmental pollution, and ionizing radiation. Now put together in dangerous and synergistic ways and surrounding our every move 24/7/365, these are all meant to create massive harm to all of us. They are meant to bring us down to a robotic-drug-induced-torpor. None of this is accidental. How it plays out in each individual will depend upon a person’s genetic constitution, diet, and personal environment –even for those who, as yet, do not show any symptoms of illness. People do not understand the gravity of this invisible injury or of the enormity of what is at stake. We must include Precaution as a life essential.
Kindness and compassion must be the order of our days! Not the TSA-groping police-state-induced lies and policies of the NW dis-order. A military state, run by officials tied to crime, corruption, and massive bankster theft, has absolutely no place in our lives. These brain-washing and violent tactics bring nothing but harm, an Orwellian-robotic sheople mindset, and the total disintegration of everything we thought we knew. We must take time to re-evaluate everything based on what we, as human beings –Homo sapiens (meaning, “wise wo/men”)– are TRULY capable of at our very best. The great philosopher Rene Descartes (1596-1650) wrote: “Cogito, ergo sum,” Latin for: I think, therefore I am. Given what is happening, this is essential. WE MUST RECLAIM AND USE OUR COGNITIVE ABILITIES NOW.
My blessèd grandmother used to tell me: “It is better to reach for the stars, and only get to the tree tops, than to reach for a bush and get there.” We must reach for the stars, our higher/highest internal selves. This “internal” self, our “Crown Chakra,” must also be our external one. We can, not only reach for the stars, but we are, in our very DNA make-up, part of the stars. We are an intrinsic part of the web of our planet’s life and, as such, part of the inter-connectedness of planetary wonder and vastness of the universe. We must reclaim our true healing role as our planet’s caretakers. This means no harm, no killing, no bombing! This means Harmony in our Hearts. This means Peace in our Psyches.
In our finite lives, we know so very little; but we can have the poet’s love of exploring words, the musician’s magic with connecting notes of harmony, and the sculptor’s divine hands, turning clay into marvels. Michelangelo and Edmonia Lewis come to mind, as great examples of the latter. The vast world of the Creative Spirit lies within each one of us. This Spring, my three-year-old precious granddaughter is enchanted by the magic of Mother Nature, as she see the seed she has just planted, come through the black soil, turn green, grow, and become a plant. We must never lose this wonder and connectedness to Gaia (the ancient Greek Goddess, Mother Earth). We do not have to be a modern equivalent of Diogenes, the ancient Greek, living in a barrel and looking for an honest man. We do not have to take or follow a robotic path of political ecocide and military hubris. Lawless societies (such as ours have become), quite literally, are dead-ends.
We did not come into this world to create harm and havoc, nor be any part of it. No matter where we live on this planet, we do not raise our children this way. We came to make this a far better world, to achieve the highest good possible –not one of illegal invasions and DU bombings of innocent citizens, lethal vaccines, and a warrior mentality devoid of ethics. This is NOT what we want to leave to our children. We do not want to raise them, or have the state take away our rights as parents and raise them, for cannon fodder, lies, and deceit. We must reject the darkness of Darth Vader and stop Borg geo-engineered technologies.
I do not want to see our [in the collective sense] children damaged by breathing chemicals that take away their ability to think clearly or eating foods that poison and cripple their bodies and cut their lives short. I do not want to see an EMF or chemical-brain injury induced “vacant stare” in my students’ eyes. We must replace a horrific invasive mercenary and military code of theft of countries and killing with a peaceful code of ethical behavior. We must reclaim and reinforce our responsibilities of guiding our children, setting examples of Courage and Love, so that they and their children (all our progeny!) will truly have a world to inherit and live out their own lives in peace, harmony, creativity, and tranquility. This is in our individual hands and it is for the greater good of all humanity.
We MUST assert our potential and use 90-or-more percent of our brain’s capabilities, not a measly 10 percent. Through the heavy veil of daily toxic pollution, we must push for cognitive clarity, our best critical thinking, and KNOW that we are capable of a much higher good: one based on love, and kindness, and compassion –not the disintegrating NWO’s de-railed society of selfishness, extreme harm, and violence. WE DO HAVE THIS IN US! Speaking from Argentina this week, Adrian Salbuchi is saying similar things:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NUj8v5V7jOM
This must be the path we choose to take, not only just for ourselves, but –in that higher good– we must set this example for our precious children and grandchildren. It is our sacred trust and loving responsibility to do this. We must re-claim our sovereign and universal-inalienable rights as peaceful individuals not to be used as uninformed experimental beings. We must set urgently needed examples for the highest ethical and moral good of which we are ALL CAPABLE of achieving. This must be our path. We can retrieve all of this, because we are the stuff of the stars.

Notice of Objection

SOURCE: Elaine Dunbar (inunyabus@gmail.com)
SUBHEAD: A notice of objection to KIUC/FFP hydroelectric plans on Kauai be the independent sovereign Hawaiian nation.

By Henry Noa on 3 June 2011 in Island Breath -
(http://islandbreath.blogspot.com/2011/06/notice-of-objection.html)

Image above: Wailua Falls in 1908 before Lihue Plantation (today Grove Farms) reduced it to a fraction of its natural flow. From the book Sugar Water.

This is an objection to the construction of proposed Hydropower projects currently under consideration for the island of Kaua’i. If constructed, not only will these projects permanently desecrate the land and waters, these would be built on lands that have been reclaimed by the Hawaiian Government of the reinstated Hawaiian Kingdom nation, without the Kingdom’s consent or authorization. On March 13, 1999, the Hawaiian people reinstated the former inherent sovereignty of the Hawaiian Kingdom.

This action was executed in accordance with international law to fulfill the obligation set forth in Article 29 of the United States Public Law 103-150, Stat. 1510-1514; November 1993 (P.L. 103-150) that states in part: “Whereas, the indigenous Hawaiian people never directly relinquished their sovereignty as a people or over their national lands to the United States.”

As set forth in the Act, the Hawaiian people never gave up their right to sovereignty and did not give up their national lands to the United States.

With the reinstatement of the lawful Hawaiian Government, the lands thought to be under the control of the United States, the State of Hawaii and the various Counties are actually owned by the Hawaiian Government. The lands and waters that these proposed projects would utilize are part of the lands of the Hawaiian Government.

Steps are being taken to reclaim such lands that were wrongfully taken. In September 9, 2001, the reinstated Hawaiian Government published a notice in the Honolulu Advertiser informing all entities of this action to reclaim the lands. The “Notice From The Reinstated Sovereignty Of The Kingdom Of Hawaii –

To Reclaim All Properties and Chattel Owned By The Kingdom Of Hawaii Prior To January 17, 1893” is set forth on page 29 of this edition. Since the notice, the reinstated Hawaiian Government has proceeded to reclaim former national lands some claims resulting in legal conflicts with public and private parties.

Plans to reclaim all properties that belong to the Hawaiian Government and the Crown are being processed for reclamation. This being the case, this letter serves as legal notice to cease and desist.

Networking as the world burns

SUBHEAD: As we all know, completion of the ongoing collapse can happen rapidly - Some say as early as July. By Guy McPherson on 1 June 2011 for Nature bats Last - (http://guymcpherson.com/2011/06/making-connections-as-the-world-burns-unless-126-does-the-trick/) Image above: At the center of a web of social networks. From (http://kendelllang.blogspot.com/2010/02/are-you-confused-about-social.html). I’ve managed to connect via email several people, most of whom I’ve not met. I have connected directly with many like-minded people using myriad outlets, including online fora, email, telephone, and live-and-in-person. The latter has proved most gratifying, particularly including the few hundred visitors to the mud hut. Online opportunities have been largely disappointing to me, in part because so many people believe online contacts are their friends. Whereas it is useful to connect with others through various means, let’s not confuse online interactions involving people who use pseudonyms in superficial discussions with human interactions leading to friendship in community. Examples of the latter phenomenon are legion, as you might expect in Facebook Nation, especially in online fora where people use clever monikers: Here’s a recent exercise in navel-gazing under the auspices of developing friendships in community.

Various fora are useful starting points for those interested in meeting like-minded people. These include, for example, the Classified Ads sections of fora such as Silent Country, Sustainable Country, Hubbert’s Arms, and The Oil Age. Michael Ruppert’s Collapse Network has a directory of lifeboats, and the occasional blogger understands the nature of our predicament and sends out a lifeline (here’s an example from Gregg Brazel, who wrote a guest essay for this site in late March of this year). Nonetheless, there remains much more to be done in the name of bringing like-minded people together for discussions of our future.

Consider various models on topics much less important than environmental and economic collapse. These include websites dedicated to Seniors Homing Together, Couch Surfing, farming/gardening, and house-swapping while on sabbatical leave. Dozens of other sites doubtless exist beyond my knowledge and interest. These sites serve valuable functions and some combination of them could be developed as a one-stop shop for doomer-oriented classified ads.

Sub-topics are limited only by our imaginations. Bartering for goods and services knows no bounds. From sharing land to sharing intimate futures, somebody should develop the one-stop shop before it’s too late. After all, times are changing. Rapidly.

How rapidly? It would be nice to know for sure.

I suspected it was game over, within a matter of weeks or months, when the per-barrel price of oil hit $126 in late April. After all, $120 oil brings American Empire to a close, as I pointed out about 18 months ago, and subsequently supported a few months ago). Michael Ruppert predicts lights out by July, which would be two months after the price spike. Ruppert’s prediction, which is viewed throughout the blogosphere as pure insanity, is completely plausible, and is consistent with events of July 2008 ($147.27 oil) and September 2008 (when all the banks in the country came within an eyelash of failing, back before the Federal Reserve Bank became powerless). Paradoxically at this point, higher oil prices indicate continuation of the industrial economy, whereas lower prices put us on track for 2008 all over again (albeit more catastrophic from the perspective of the industrial economy).

Of course, the price of oil could rise to the $200/bbl and then the $300/bbl forecast by Chris Martenson. If it does, we’ll need to bring back the Pony Express to spread the news across a nation without an electrical grid. Actually, the impending ongoing collapse of the U.S. Postal Service indicates we’re close to that point already.

As we all know, completion of the ongoing collapse can happen rapidly. I’m not saying it will happen by July: I’m still sticking with my four-year-old forecast of light’s out by the end of 2012, which is looking ludicrously conservative. But it certainly could happen by July, and I wouldn’t bet against it even as I wish for it. In any event, I’ve been pondering what I would do with an extra few days, weeks, months, or even years.

With an extra couple days, I would call the people I love to wish them goodbye, and I would spend a little extra time in the garden gazing into the adjacent wilderness. On the other hand, with an extra couple days we would drive an additional few hundred species to extinction while bringing nearly half-a-million people into a world they didn’t choose to enter.

What would you do with an extra couple days?

With an extra couple weeks, I would complete a long-planned gathering with my parents and siblings in the northern Idaho campground where we spent a week or two each summer during my youth. On the other hand, with an extra couple weeks we would drive about 3,000 extra species into the abyss of extinction while bringing nearly 3 million people to the planet just in time to suffer and die young.

What would you do with an extra couple weeks?

With an extra couple months, I would construct a solar ice-maker at the mud hut and then write about it and the biochar kiln we recently added (the obvious title of that essay: Fire and Ice). Then we would retain the ability, after the deep-chest freezer follows the electrical grid over the cliff, to cool food (and us). After all, the typical lifetime of an American appliance is seven years, suggesting ours is already in middle age. Can you imagine our prospects for bartering if we have ice in the summer, in the desert? As a society, we could seriously ratchet up the madness with an extra couple months. In that seemingly short time, we would murder an extra 12,000 or so species and bring an additional 12 million or so people into a planet on the brink.

What would you do with an extra couple months?

With an extra couple years, the orchard will be bearing fruit and we might know something about building soil. My tenth book would be published and I would be able to help a few willing people in minor ways. But, at least for me, the psychological and emotional costs are so great I cannot think about an additional two years of planetary madness. The diminishing hope for the future of Homo sapiens on an overwrought, overshot, overheated planet is too much to bear. Despite all the signs and all the evidence, this disaster we call society continues to set records for carbon emissions.

But back to the notion of connections, assuming it’s not too late. This blog has very limited readership (though I don’t know how limited, because I don’t track statistics). Nonetheless, in the spirit of taking a tentative step in the direction I’m proposing — and hoping an organization with a mission, staff, and credibility steps up — I’ve added a classified ads page (see tab at the top of this page). Send me your ad, and I’ll post it there. At any time, let me know if you’d like to revise or remove it. Use me for contact information, if you’d like, so I can serve as a human spam filter.

There are a couple caveats: If the number or content of ads sent my way exceed my ability to effectively deal with them, I’ll pull the plug. Please don’t abuse my time. And, as always, I’m treating this activity as a work in progress, subject to your input and my blowing-in-the-wind whims. Thus, as always, I welcome your thoughts about this pursuit. Have I crossed the line from ridiculous to sublime? Is it true that I’ve lost my ability to reason? You’ve not held back before, so I assume you’ll respond honestly in this space or via email.

Two examples follow, and they’re real. I’ve already posted them to my Facebook page and one of the fora mentioned above. Apparently they’ve met with a fair amount of success already.

We are located in the beautiful Pacific Northwest, about halfway between Eugene and Corvallis, Oregon, in the foothills. The commute to Eugene is 30 minutes and to Corvallis about 40.

Looking for others who would like to split the costs of all living expenses, including rent and utilities, sharing resources and helping to develop a way to generate income that will benefit everyone involved. Joint ownership also will be considered.

Ideal partners will be good communicators who are enthusiastic and creative (i.e., they have the passion to create). Motivated couples, young families and/or individuals who share our concerns about climate change, resource depletion and surviving together through collapse of the current system, as we know it. We have enough space where all can live together harmoniously with separate living quarters determined by consensus of all concerned. There are a variety of options available. Kitchen and laundry facilities will be shared.

In considering our homestead, we appreciate others who enjoy actively working/stewarding the land. Ideally, we want to work together with our homesteading partners to find better ways to utilize the land we are tending: (water conservation, intensive sustainable planting, composting and organic planting) along with other mutually beneficial plans for farming. Using all of our talents/ideas and experiences to grow one or several businesses together would be a plus along with the desire to continue the arrangement for an extended period of time.

Our property is five acres, all usable with a gently sloped southern exposure and 55, 4×26′ raised beds and approximately 250′ of berries. We also have a young orchard of apple and pear trees. A creek runs along the bottom of our property (not on it) and a large tract of heavily wooded land lies beyond it (120+ acres).

Other resources: 10×15′ greenhouse Diesel tractor with attachments, though our garden is tended by hand with no power equipment, has been “no till” for the last five years. Free range chickens Barn (with second-floor space) that has electric and water (needs work). Woodworking equipment for repairs and a possible small business Our home also has a flex-area for that can be used for classroom space, yoga or bodywork, massage therapy, an art studio (or other venture).

Additional interests include growing and processing food (canning, drying, etc). We would like our partners to share and collaborate with the garden, food preservation, and marketing the farmstead

We have considered workshops targeting sustainable practices, setting up a network with the community for bartering or bulk food purchasing and would also like to incorporate animal husbandry, mechanical, sewing, carpentry and renewable energy skills.

If interested, please contact us with more specifics about long-term plans, interests, and abilities as well as any financial or other resources you have to share. Please contact Guy McPherson via email if you are interested, and he will forward legitimate requests to us (grm@ag.arizona.edu).

Greetings fellow Doomers:

I’m pleased to be a part of this movement and glad for the collapse of the prevailing planet-destroying order. Future generations will undoubtedly look back at the late-industrial era and scratch their heads in total disbelief. So, on to the future …

I’ve been studying and practicing organic agriculture for three years: experimenting with an urban garden in Chicago, wwoofing at two small farms in Michigan, and also helping out at Strawbale Studio (http://strawbalestudio.org/). I am well-versed and skilled in sustainable design & construction, with 20+ years of experience in engineering, architecture, design and planning. In addition to concerns about health, ecology, and the food chain, my love of cooking inspires me to cultivate fresh veggies, herbs and berries near my kitchen, to share with all.

I am passionately interested in the re-localization of economies … agriculture, building, energy, manufacturing, textiles, medicine, journalism, and the arts … authentic creativity and craftsmanship that come only from a Zen-merging of mind, body and soul. The People need to preserve and safeguard these knowledge bases and critical skills. We must take such matters back into our own hands as some industries are too important to be left to the profit motive that extracts true wealth (natural capital, clean environment, labor hours, genuine relationships) from the local economy. Rebuilding culture and communities from the ground up will be the next primary concern and enterprise of humanity. I am seeking to work with like-minded people to recreate human-scaled economies and humane modes of existence on this gorgeous, finite planet that is our source of all sustenance.

My highest skills are in design+build … shelters, garden structures, furniture. So if you need affordable housing or a solar shower, a passive solar addition, chicken tractor … I am especially interested in helping in this regard. I’ve owned and run a small design/build company for 15 years and have strong business skills … web and graphic design, databases, marketing, cost estimating, project management. I gladly offer help in these areas if it would benefit your community.

Please drop by my website at www.ehrlum.com to view samples of my craft, and see my resume at http://ehrlum.com/gabportfolio/resume.pdf for complete info on my education and skills.

I am single, no children, pets, mortgage or leases. I am highly mobile and motivated, and I look forward to hearing from you.

Best regards, Gregg Brazel gregg@ehrlum.com

In the World After Abundance

SUBHEAD: Develop the skills that will be needed when the legacy technologies of our fading age of excess finally grind to a halt.

Image above: Abandoned pod hotel in aftermath of Taiwan realestate boom and bust in 1980's. From (http://notesfromthebartender.wordpress.com/2009/12/03/abandoned-seaplane-when-dreams-become-nightmares).

Over the past month or so the essays on this blog have veered away from the details of appropriate tech into a discussion of some of the reasons why this kind of tech is, in fact, appropriate as a response to the predicament of industrial society. That was a necessary diversion, since a great many of the narratives that cluster around that crisis just now tend to evade the necessity of change on the level of individual lifestyles. The roots of that evasion had to be explored in order to show that change on that level is exactly what can’t be avoided by any serious response to the crisis of our time. Still, if it’s going to do any good, that awareness has to be paired with something more than a vague sense that action is necessary.

Talk, as Zen masters are fond of saying, does not boil the rice; in the rather more formal language of the traditions of Western esotericism where I received a good deal of my training, the planes of being are discrete and not continuous, which means in practice that even the clearest sense of how we collectively backed ourselves into the present mess isn’t going to bring in food from the garden, keep warmth from leaking out of the house on a cold winter night, or provide a modest amount of electricity for those bits of modern or not-quite-modern technology that will still make sense, and still yield benefits, in the world after abundance. That last phrase is the crucial one. In the future ahead of us, the extravagant habits of the recent past and the present will no longer be an option.

Those habits include most of what people in the industrial world nowadays like to consider the basic amenities of a normal lifestyle, or even the necessities of life. An unwillingness to take a hard look at the assumptions underlying our current notion of what a normal lifestyle comprises has driven a certain amount of wishful thinking, and roughly the same amount of unnecessary dread, among those who have begun to grapple with the challenges ahead of us.

One of the best examples I can think of is provided by the ubiquitous wall sockets that, in nearly every home in the industrial world, provide as much electric current on demand as the residents want and can pay for. In most circles these days, when conversations turn to the prospects of energy for the future, the belief that the only possible way to use electricity is to keep uninterrupted power flowing to those sockets is very nearly as sacrosanct as the belief that the only possible way to handle transportation is to find some way to keep hundreds of millions of private cars fueled with as much ethanol, or biodiesel, or electricity, or what have you, as their drivers can afford.

Both these beliefs take the temporary habits of an age of excess and treat them as necessities, and both of them box our collective imagination into a futile quest to sustain the unsustainable instead of looking at other options that are well within reach even this late in the game. The sheer inefficiency of today’s habits of electrical generation, distribution, and use is rarely recognized.

Behind those wall sockets lies what is very probably the world’s largest single system of infrastructure, an immense network linking huge power plants and end users via a crazy spiderweb of transmission lines covering whole continents. To keep electricity in those lines, vast amounts of fuel are burnt every day to generate heat, which produces steam, which drives turbines, which turn generators, which put voltage onto the lines; at each of these transformations of energy from one form to another, the laws of thermodynamics take their toll, and as a result only about a third of the potential energy in the fuel finds its way to the wall socket.

Losses to entropy of the same order of magnitude also take place when electricity is generated by other means – hydroelectricity, wind power or what have you – because of parallel limits hardwired into the laws of physics. When the resulting current comes out of the wall sockets, in turn, equivalent losses take place on the other end. Most electricity in today’s industrial societies gets turned into light, heat, or mechanical motion at its end use, and each of these transformations involves unavoidable inefficiencies.

Furthermore, a very large fraction of today’s end uses of electricity are things that could be done just as well without it, with the application of a little ordinary muscle power or some other readily available energy source. That’s not even counting the gigawatts that go into lighting, cooling and heating unoccupied rooms, keeping electronic devices on unnecessary standby, drowning out the stars with light pollution, and, well, let’s not even start talking about Wii.

Having an energy system geared to so grandiose a level of excess seemed to make sense in the days when fossil fuels were cheap and abundant. Quite a few absurd things seemed to make sense in those days, and even when they no longer make any sense at all, the habits of that brief interval continue to dominate contemporary thought to an embarrassing degree.

Notice how our economic system, as well as nearly all economists, still act as though replacing human labor with fossil fuel-derived energy is always a good idea, even at a time when unemployment is pandemic and the cost of energy is a rising burden on economies around the world. The same fixation on maintaining the extravagant habits of the recent past still holds most discussions of energy hostage.

Every source of electrical power these days is measured against the yardstick of whether it could provide enough cheap, abundant, reliable, continuous power to keep our existing electrical grids running.

Proponents of each of the various contenders trot out an assortment of canned studies insisting that their preferred energy technology can do just that, while challenging competing systems with equally canned studies that insist that no other option will work. Given the billions of dollars that have already been paid out to the winners in these competitions, and the trillions more that will likely follow, this sort of propaganda dolled up in scientific drag will most likely continue to be standard practice until the money and other resources for grandiose projects simply aren’t there any more.

Meanwhile, there’s really no way to be sure in advance that any of the options can keep the grids running, and if there is, the chance that the one that ends up clawing its way to the top of the heap in the political free-for-all now under way will just happen to be one that will do the trick is not exactly something on which I’d choose to bet. The difficulty here is that most current conversations about the future of energy are trying to figure out an answer without first making sure that what’s being asked is the right question. “How can we keep an electrical grid designed around the unquestioned availability of cheap abundant energy?” is the obvious question, and it’s also the wrong one.

The right question – the question that we should be asking – is something more like “How much electricity can we count on having in a future after fossil fuels, and what are the best ways to produce, distribute, and use it?” That question has hardly been asked at all. It’s high time to remedy that omission. There are many reasons for thinking, in fact, that trying to maintain an electrical grid on a regional or national scale in a future of scarce energy is a fool’s game. To run a large-scale grid of the sort currently in use, you need to be able to produce huge amounts of power every second of every day. It’s very difficult to get that much power that reliably by any means other than burning a lot of fossil fuels, either directly – say, in a coal- or gas-fired power plant – or indirectly.

Tot up the total energy content of the fossil fuels needed to mine and refine uranium and urn it into fuel rods, to build, maintain, and decommission a nuclear reactor, to deal with the short-term and long-term waste, and to account for a share of the energy cost of the inevitable accidents, for example, and you’ll have a sense of the scale of the energy subsidies from fossil fuels that prop up nuclear power; do the same math for today’s giant wind turbines, and a similar realization is in store. Lacking these subsidies, it’s probably a safe bet that nuclear reactors and giant wind turbines can’t be built or maintained at all.

Still, an important point is generally missed here. Gigawatts of power are necessary for an electrical power grid. They aren’t necessary for any one of the homes and small businesses that make up the great numerical majority of end users. Get rid of the pointless excess that dominates our current approach to energy, and limit your use of electricity to the things it actually does better than other readily available energy sources, and a 12 volt circuit at very modest wattage is very often all you need.

Powering a 12 volt circuit at modest wattage is child’s play, and can be done by any of a baker’s dozen or so of readily accessible technologies that can be built, maintained, and used by any moderately skilled handyperson. Equally, having all that power on call every second of every day is necessary for an electrical grid of the modern kind. It’s not actually necessary for homes and small businesses.

Again, get rid of social habits that amount to wasting energy for the sake of wasting energy, and it’s not that hard to live with an intermittent electrical supply, either by using electricity whenever it happens to be available and not otherwise, or by using batteries to store up current for a short time until you need it. Seventy and eighty years ago, this latter was standard practice in a great many American homes.

One of my vintage radio textbooks, A. and M. Marcus’ excellent Elements of Radio, dates from those days. At that time radio was the hot new technology, and even out in farm country, where rural electrification took its sweet time to arrive, most families who could scrape together the cash had a radio in the parlor, linking them to news, music, and other cultural resources from hundreds of miles away.

Where did they get the power? Batteries, two of them per radio: an A battery to power the filaments on the vacuum tubes and a B battery to provide the working current. The A battery needed frequent recharging, and wind power was among the options for that; the iconic and ubiquitous windmills of rural America three quarters of a century ago had plenty of uses, and as often as not, that was one of them.

Long before electrical grids extended out of America’s urban cores, in fact, it was fairly common for households elsewhere in the country to have a modest amount of electricity to hand. There are a few things electricity does more efficently than any other form of energy – radio, broadcast or two-way; other electronic devices such as the phonograph; safe, smokeless lighting for the parlor and the kitchen for a few hours after sunset – and those were what people at that time did with electricity. (Nowadays a well-insulated refrigerator and the pump for a closed-loop active solar water heater might be worth adding to the same list.)

Those things that electricity only does inefficiently and other energy sources do well – for example, providing diffuse heat or high-torque mechanical energy – people did by other means. Fairly often, those other means required a certain amount of muscle power, but that’s an inevitable reality of life in a world after abundance.

The distinction between those things electricity does efficiently, and those things that it doesn’t, is as important to keep in mind as it’s commonly neglected. Kris de Decker, in a recent and useful article on pedal powered technologies in Low-tech Magazine, has done a good job of mapping out the issues involved. He points out that most pedal power devices currently on the market use the back wheel of a bicycle to run a generator, and then use the electricity produced by the generator to do something.

For most uses, this is hopelessly inefficient, since every transformation of energy from one form to another involves losses to entropy which can be saved by leaving the energy in its original form. How serious are the losses? Enough that you’ll be pedaling two to three times as long to do the same task with electricity as you would if the bicycle’s mechanical power did it directly.

If you want to power a blender to make yourself margaritas on hot summer days, for example, it’s a substantial waste of energy – your energy, expressed in sweat and tired muscles – to hook your bicycle to a generator and wire up the generator to the motor that drives the blender. The more efficient option is to use the mechanical motion of the bicycle wheel to spin the blender blades directly; there are still losses to entropy, of course, but they’re a small fraction of what they would be if you stick a generator and motor in the middle where they’re not needed. The same principle applies to a great many other things that are currently done by means of electricity.

Regular readers of this blog will readily be able to think of another example, since I’ve discussed more than once the misunderstandings that bedevil solar energy. They come from the same set of blinders as the notion that pedal power ought to be used to generate electricity, rather than being used to drive the mechanical motion a great deal of today’s electricity is used to drive. Sunlight can be turned into electricity on a small scale in several different ways; none of them are very efficient, and they’re all intermitted and difficult to scale up, but several are quite good enough to drive the sort of small-scale 12 volt system discussed here if you’ve got a good southern exposure.

What sunlight does with great efficiency, on the other hand, is convert itself to diffuse heat – the sort of heat that will warm a room, heat a bath, or bake a loaf of bread in a solar oven. When planning for solar energy, in other words, it’s best to do as much as possible with the diffuse heat sunlight provides so readily, and convert sunlight to electricity only for the handful of uses where electricity is the only thing, or the best thing, for the job.

Apply the same logic across the board and you end up with the most probable energy system of a world after abundance: a patchwork of different energy sources and applications, right down to the level of the individual household or business. In the American households of three quarters of a century ago I mentioned earlier in this post, that was perfectly normal; the radio ran off the A and B batteries, the stove was powered by wood from the woodlot, two lamps in the parlor ran off batteries charged by the windmill while the rest burnt kerosene, the sewing machine ran off a foot-operated treadle, the water was pumped by the windmill and heated by the sun – yes, solar water heaters were hugely popular in the 1920s, especially but not only in the Sun Belt.

One consequence of this crazy quilt of energy options is that if something disrupted access to any one source of energy, the rest of the household chugged on unaffected.

Compare that to the electricity-dependent household of the present, where a blackout renders the whole household inoperable and quite possibly unlivable. The crucial point to take away from all this, though, is that expectations formed by the extravagance of the recent past are not a useful guide to the best options available to us in the post-peak future. It’s a safe bet, of course, that plenty of resources will be thrown down a dizzying assortment of ratholes in the attempt to keep the infrastructure of the age of abundance up and running even as the abundance itself trickles away.

Long after private cars have stopped making any kind of economic sense, for example, what’s left of the American economy will still be being jiggered and poked in an attempt to keep some mummified simulacrum of an auto industry propped up in its corner, and no doubt similar efforts will be made to support the big regional grids even when the impact of shutting them down would be less of an economic burden than the cost of keeping them going.

That’s why it’s all the more crucial for individuals, families, and community groups to start shifting over to the habits of energy use that will make sense in the world after abundance, to work through the learning curve and develop the skills and technologies that will be there to pick up the pieces when the legacy technologies of our fading age of excess finally grind to a halt.

Green Plan disguises Nuclear Plant

SUBHEAD: Masked as a desalination plant the Fresno Clean Energy Park is a plan for more nukes in California.

By Juan Wilson on 1 June 2011 for Island Breath -

A recently signed deal between Areva LLC (the French nuclear power company) and Fresno Nuclear Energy Group, LLC (FNEG) would bring two nuclear reactors to Fresno, California, with a "Clean Energy Park" that would also include solar and wind powered energy generators. AREVA and the Fresno Nuclear Energy Group, LLC (FNEG) announced today they have signed a contract to initiate the first phase in the development of an advanced Clean Energy Park near Fresno, California, USA. This from Areva on 3/30/11:
Phase one of the Fresno Clean Energy Park envisions a Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) plant, which will power a water processing plant integrated with a waste water treatment facility. The contract focuses on activities to support the feasibility assessments of the project.
Today’s contract follows a series of milestones for the Fresno Clean Energy Park beginning with an April 2010 Memorandum of Understanding between AREVA and FNEG to begin development of the project using all AREVA technologies.
“Clean Energy Parks, like the one under development in Fresno, will help the United States meet a growing demand for clean power generation using AREVA’s advanced nuclear energy and renewable technologies,” said Jacques Besnainou, CEO of AREVA North America. “The technologies available include AREVA’s U.S. EPR and other (nuclear) reactors, concentrated solar, offshore wind and biomass plants.” (http://www.areva.com/EN/news-8813/areva-fresno-nuclear-energy-group-sign-contract-for-clean-energy-park-in-california.html?xtmc=fresno&xtcr=1)
The Areva-FNEG partnership claims the nuclear reactors would be for desalinating contaminated water and would not constitute an electric utility. This would help get around California's current moratorium on utility companies building nuclear power plants. FNEG claims that water is more valuable than electricity to the Fresno region - a case we won't dispute. However the idea that electrical energy generated by the nuclear plant could be given away free does not mean the facility would not be an electric utility. See the article below from the California Current on 10/15/10.
The head of a group proposing a 1,600 MW nuclear power plant in Fresno said if the project goes forward it is not subject to California’s moratorium on new nuclear plants. “The Nuclear Regulatory Commission has siting jurisdiction, not the state,” asserted John Hutson, Fresno Nuclear Energy Group president, which is pushing the nuclear project. Hutson’s group and Areva, a French corporation, signed a memorandum of understanding to build two nuclear units last April. Since 1976, California law has prohibited building new nuclear plants. The moratorium has been in place because of the lack of a national long-term radioactive waste dump. The proposed repository at Yucca Mountain, Nevada, is moribund. If federal permitting is sought, Hutson said during a California Public Utilities Commission-sponsored seminar October 14 that he expects to be sued by the state. To bolster his case, he said the state moratorium was in place to protect ratepayers from uncertain and risky utility investments. The proposed Fresno Energy Park would not be owned or operated by a utility nor would its primary function be electricity for the grid. The plan is to desalinate the region’s groundwater and wastewater for potable consumption, he claimed. Hutson insisted that the project also would be financed with private money and would not be dependent on Department of Energy loan guarantees. When asked if private financing had been lined up, he said “not as much as some might expect.” He added, “We don’t see in any foreseeable problems” on the financing front. Areva vice president Alan Hanson and Hutson said the park would include a solar thermal project component, expected to produce up to 400 MW. Nuclear and intermittent renewable power are codependent, they said. “The truth is that solar and wind can’t do it without nuclear power and nuclear can’t do it without help from its little brother and sister windy and sunny.” Hanson added that given the permit requests to extend the life of nuclear reactors, “It is wise to revisit recycling nuclear fuels. PGE&E awaits approval to extend the life of it’s Diablo Canyon nuke for 20 years. Southern California Edison said it would file for a license extension for its facility, San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station. The Fresno project seeks 5,000 acres in Western Fresno. (http://www.cacurrent.com/storyDisplay.php?sid=4921)
You notice that the cynical duplicity of FNEG is completely out in the open. They are basically saying "We lying to you in order that you'll accept what we are going to do so that you won't have to change anything about the way you conduct your lives, and you can feel good about it because it's Green". Here is more from a recent CNBC article about the projecton 5/10/11:
California wants to go green. However, it does not want to go nuclear.

There's been a moratorium on building new nuclear plants in the Golden State since1976. The two remaining operational plants, PG&E's Diablo Canyon and Edison's San Onofre, are both along the coast and near earthquake faults.
Both have gotten new attention since the quake and tsunami in Japan caused major damage to the Fukushima Daiichi plant, but neither California facility has ever experienced serious problems due to natural disasters. Yet.
One of the reasons for the moratorium is the lack of a permanent disposal site for nuclear waste in the U.S. Currently, the waste is held on site, as operators wait for the federal government to develop a final dumping ground, since killing funding for the proposed Yucca Mountain Nuclear Waste Repository in Nevada.

Now, a French company is gambling it can beat the odds and build a nuclear plant in the heart of California's fertile farmland. Areva, which is controlled by the French government, has partnered with a group of California businessmen and farmers who've formed the Fresno Nuclear Energy Group.
They've started the permitting process for a 4,000-watt clean energy park near Fresno which would include two 1,600-megawatt nuclear reactors. The remaining 800 megawatts of power would come from wind and solar thermal power on site. The partners want to put the multi-billion dollar facility amid some of the most productive agricultural land in the country.
"There's an old expression in the nuclear business," says John Hutson, President and CEO of the Fresno Nuclear Energy Group. "The more you know about nuclear, the less you'll fear it, and the more you know about global climate change, the more you'll fear it."
He and his Fresno partners have put in hundreds of thousands of dollars of their own money to try to get the ball rolling. It may be rolling uphill.
First, there's the problem of the moratorium because of no permanent waste site. Areva says it can ship the Fresno nuclear waste to France, as it does for other customers, where it would be recycled.
But the company admits France won't keep the leftovers. That so-called "residual waste" would be shipped back to the U.S. "That material will be glass, which means it will be more resistant to environmental forces," says Areva's Jarret Adams.
Still, there would be no place in the U.S. to store it. Adams hopes that by the time any plant is built and any used rods need long-term storage, the U.S. will have come up with a solution.
John Hutson thinks he has an argument to avoid the moratorium altogether. "If we're not making electricity, the moratorium has nothing to do with us," he says. Hutson claims the power generated would be used to desalinate water, not power customers on the grid. "There's currently no law in California that says you can't use nuclear power for industrial purposes to create steam."
"You could put lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig," says Fresno County Supervisor Henry Perea, who isn't buying branding efforts that call the plant a clean energy park meant to help farmers get access to water. "When you peel it all away, it's a nuclear power plant."
He sees nuclear power "as a viable energy source," but is concerned about putting a plant in the San Joaquin Valley near the San Andreas Fault. "You put a nuclear plant in the middle of a $5.4 billion ag industry and something happens, you're wiping out the Americans' food supply."
This all sounds like a giant confidence operation to push forward nuclear energy using the Nuclear Regulatory Agency as a battering ram against state rights... not unlike the KIUC-FFP deal to move hydro-electricity foward on Kauai using the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) as a bludgeon. .
