Bell, a working class community of 35,000 people had a City Manager Robert Rizzo being paid a total of $1.5 million dollars in wages and benefits; and the assistant city manager Angela Spaccia and police chief Randy Adams were making a half million dollars in salaries and benefits. Bell’s city council members received $100,000 a year salaries. Those arrested pleaded no-contest to criminal charges. From (http://www.chapman.edu/wilkinson/about/events/bell-conference.aspx).
The previous three posts to this website have been to serve a single purpose - to demonstrate, from the perspective of Hawaii, the bankruptcy of our America's government systems at the federal, state and county level.
Government, corporate and military leadership attracts narcissists, sociopaths, egomaniacs, psychotics, and occasionally idiot savants. You can certainly see that at the county, state and federal level of American government as it is applied to once independent Hawaii.
That is not to say that all the activities of the agencies of each level of government are bad. Some of those activities are excellent. But the overarching effect at each level is destructive to Hawaii and the people that live here.
The overarching effect of federal, state and county governance is to bleed people of resources to support expensive military budgets and corporate profits.
Ever more, however, is required.
This means further expansion of population and developmental growth to continue economic growth at the cost of the environment and human freedom. Always it means more war somewhere to dominate someone so the military has a reason to be and the corporations have more markets to profit from.
All in all it's an ugly con game we keep falling for.
