There are two great bills in the state legislature that will be receiving hearings this Thursday.  One is very much like our 2491 bill , but state wide, and we strongly support that bill.  The other bill is for a GMO labeling law, which we also support.

Since the hearings are this Thursday, it would be great if you can submit testimony in support today to make sure its counted for the hearing, but if you don't make it today, please still submit testimony in support today.

The labeling bill (SB131) is easy to support, via the Hawaii Center for Food Safety page here, takes less than one minute if you already registered with them.

Now the state wide buffer zones bill (HB1514) takes maybe 5 minutes, for me it did, but that included registering with the state web site.  Please make sure after you register or sign in, to submit testimony, then follow through and click the submit again on the confirmation page.   Here's a longer write up of that bill and links to submit testimony.

ACTION ALERT
Please take one minute now to testify in support of state House Bill (HB)1514 which would create pesticide buffer zones around schools and other sensitive areas and require disclosure by the largest users of "Restricted Use" Pesticides in Hawai‘i. (Basically a statewide Bill 2491).  It will only affect large commercial users of RUPs --  not small farms, nurseries or landscapers.

Today is the last day to submit testimony and it only takes one minute!  The hearing is THIS THURSDAY @ 8:30am in front of the House Ag Committee (which is chaired by Rep. Tsuji, "Biotech Legislator of the Year").  This will be a difficult Committee hearing, and every testimony matters!

Submit testimony here. Full link:
